The wine world has gathered in the splendid setting of Margaret River, a town in Western Australia. This is because, like every year, the prestigious ranking The World's 50 Best Vineyards has been published, shining a spotlight on vineyards that not only produce excellent wines but also offer a top-notch wine tourism experience. Behind the famous name "The World's 50 Best" lies a complex evaluation process. We're talking about over 700 professionals in the wine and tourism sector, including sommeliers, journalists, operators and wine industry experts, who are asked to express their expert opinions on the experiences they had over the last twelve months. First place goes to Vik, a wonderful vineyard located in the Millahue Valley in Chile. Perched on a hill with the Andes as a backdrop, the estate extends across a 4,450-hectare nature reserve, of which 327 hectares are dedicated to vineyards, planted in 12 distinct microclimates. South America , following its restaurants, with Maido in Lima (Peru) becoming the world's best, also takes the lead in vineyards, positioning itself very high on the global gastronomic scene.

The World's 50 Best Vineyards: The Top 10

The importance of this ranking goes far beyond simply recognizing the best vineyard: it helps map the world's most interesting wine destinations, showcasing territories, landscapes, and everything related to the wine sector. Wine tourism is growing rapidly, and in this sense, the final ranking is both a promotional tool and a stimulus for the entire sector. While Vik took first place, the silver and bronze medals go back to Europe with Schloss Johannisberg, a vineyard in Rheingau, Germany, and Botegas Ysios in La Rioja, Spain. The final ranking includes wineries from 15 different destinations across all continents, with 11 new entries.
