Creamy Salmon Penne Pasta is a quick, flavorful, and incredibly creamy main dish. Ready in less than 30 minutes, it's perfect for a family lunch or a casual dinner with friends, even a last-minute one: you only need a few wholesome, readily available ingredients.

Our delicious version is ideal for any time of year: simply melt the butter in a large pan, add the diced salmon fillet, let it brown for a few moments, then add a squeeze of lemon juice, deglaze with whiskey and let the alcohol evaporate, then mix everything together with the heavy cream and season with salt and pepper.

All that's left to do is drain the pasta al dente and pour it directly into the pan with the sauce, stir in the sauce, and garnish with chopped chives for a refreshing touch.

It is, therefore, a preparation within everyone's reach, which you can personalize according to your preferences and what you have available at home: let yourself be inspired by our suggestions.

How to Make Creamy Salmon Penne Pasta

To prepare the pasta, start by placing the butter in a non-stick pan, letting it melt.

When it is very hot, add the pieces of fresh salmon, mix and let them brown for a few minutes.

Flavor the salmon with a squeeze of lemon juice and continue cooking.

Pour the whiskey and let the alcohol evaporate.

At this point, add the heavy cream. Mix well, trying not to break up the fish too much, then season with salt and pepper. Meanwhile, cook the pasta in lightly salted boiling water, according to the instructions on the package.

Drain the pasta al dente and transfer it directly to the sauce, then sauté everything in a pan for a few moments over high heat.

Plate the pasta, garnish with a little chopped chives and enjoy.

FAQs

What is The Best Pasta for Creamy Salmon Pasta?

Our recipe uses penne rigate, which holds the sauce well, but if you prefer, you can use any other short pasta shape you like, such as fusilli, mezze maniche, and caserecce. If you want, you can also try with either spaghetti or linguine.

What Cut of Salmon Should I Use?

We used a fresh salmon fillet, cleaned, deboned, and cut into chunks; you can ask your trusted fishmonger to help you with this, or you can opt for smoked salmon slices, cut into thin strips.

What Else Can I Add to This Pasta Dish?

For a touch of color and flavor, you can also add a few halved datterini tomatoes, sautéed in a pan with the butter and fish. Instead of chives, you can flavor the dish with a sprig of dill, pink peppercorns or ground pink pepper, or the grated zest of an organic lemon, which will give it a great aroma.

Can I Substitute or Omit the Alcohol?

You can replace the whiskey with classic dry white wine, or with brandy or vodka; if the dish is intended for kids or people who don't drink alcohol, however, remember to omit them and use only the lemon juice.

How to Store Any Leftovers

Once ready, the creamy salmon penne pasta must be consumed  immediately.
