to taste

How to Steam Carrots

Trim the carrots.

Peel them with the help of a potato peeler.

Cut the carrots into pieces about 2-3 cm wide.

Transfer the carrots to the basket of a steamer.

Place the basket over a pan filled halfway with boiling water.

Cover with the appropriate lid and steam for 15-18 minutes.

When they are tender when pierced with the prongs of a fork but still crunchy, transfer the carrots to a bowl and let them cool.

Pour the extra virgin olive oil.

Finely chop the parsley with a knife.

Season the carrots with chopped fresh parsley and season with salt and pepper.

Mix well with two spoons to distribute the seasoning evenly.

Enjoy!

Pro Tips for The Best Steamed Carrots

  • For best results, we recommend cutting the vegetables into medium-thin rounds and then cooking them exactly as directed in the recipe: this way, they won't fall apart and the final result will be excellent.

FAQs

What Else Can I Season the Carrots With?

If you don't have a steamer at home, you can still steam the carrots: all you need is a simple metal basket placed on a pan with a lid, or a special container suitable for the  microwave.

Can I Add Other Vegetables?

If you like, you can add broccoli florets, asparagus, or other favorite vegetables to the steamer basket, or you can enrich the steamed carrots with Taggiasca olives or sun-dried tomato fillets.

How Else Can I Cook The Carrots?

Alternatively, you can sauté the carrots with a drizzle of oil or a knob of butter, and then flavor them with sage leaves or other aromatic herbs: they will be even tastier.

How to Store Steamed Carrots

If you have any leftovers, the steamed carrots can be stored in the refrigerator, in an airtight container, for 1-2 days maximum.
