These chocolate coffee cup desserts make a delicious sweet treat to have after a special meal.

To make the edible chocolate coffee cups, you pour dark chocolate in a coffee cup lid and a mixture of white and milk chocolate in a coffee cup before setting them aside to set. Then, you layer soaked ladyfingers, a mascarpone mixture, and cocoa powder in the cups until they are full before serving them. The creamy layers and rich chocolate make these a dessert that everyone will enjoy!

What are Edible Chocolate Coffee Cups?

Edible chocolate coffee cups are basically chocolate cups that are filled with the classic tiramisu layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and sweetened mascarpone. Using a paper coffee cup as a mold helps create the coffee cup aesthetic that this dessert recipe has.

Pro Tips

  • You can melt the chocolate in the microwave or on top of the stove over a double boiler.
  • Don’t oversoak the ladyfingers as you don’t want them to fall apart or become mushy. Just quickly dip them in the coffee on one side before layering them in the chocolate coffee cups.
  • For an alcohol-free version of this recipe, you can omit the rum.
  • For easier filling, place the mascarpone mixture in a piping bag.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do You Melt Chocolate?

You can either melt the chocolate in the microwave or on the stove. For the stovetop method, finely chop the chocolate and place it in a heatproof bowl before setting it over a pot of simmering water, and stirring it until melted. Meanwhile, for the microwave version, you can place finely chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave it for 20 to 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely melted.

How Can I Fill the Cups Easily?

It can be messy spooning the mascarpone filling into the cups but using a piping bag makes the process a cinch. Simply place the mascarpone mixture into a piping bag so you can easily pipe it into each layer. Alternatively, you could use a plastic sandwich bag to pipe the mascarpone mixture into the cups.

Why Did the Ladyfingers Become Soggy?

The ladyfingers likely became soggy due to oversoaking them in the coffee mixture. Since they absorb liquid quickly, it is best to dunk them into the coffee very quickly rather than letting them sit in it for too long.

How to Store Edible Chocolate Coffee Cups

The chocolate coffee cups can be placed in a sealed container and stored in the fridge where they should stay good for up to 2 to 3 days.

How to Make Edible Chocolate Coffee Cups

Melt the dark chocolate and pour it into plastic coffee cup lids. Set the lids aside in the fridge until the chocolate is set.

Melt the milk chocolate with the white chocolate, and pour it into coffee cups, making sure that it coats the sides. Set them aside in the fridge so the chocolate sets. Remove the hardened chocolate from the lids and cups.

In a bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese with the sugar. Beat the heavy cream in a separate bowl before folding it into the mascarpone cheese mixture. Place it in a piping bag.

Pipe some of the cream mixture into each cup. In a bowl, stir the coffee with the rum. Dip ladyfinger cookies in the coffee mixture and place them in the cups on top of the cream, breaking them apart as needed to help them fit.

Pipe more cream on top and dust it with cocoa powder.

Repeat the process until the cups are full.

Serve and enjoy!
