Do you want to indulge in a sin of gluttony? French fries are the dish for you, to be prepared at home in a short time to enjoy them crunchy and golden. The most classic shape is the stick shape but we can cut potatoes in many different ways also depending on the occasion. French fries are appreciated by young and old all over the world and they can be served in many different ways; in America they are called French fries and are often covered with melted cheese, especially cheddar, but also spicy sauces, onion, while in Spain we find the thicker Patatas bravas accompanied by tomato sauce, as well as mayonnaise or paprika. In our recipe we will prepare homemade fried potatoes according to the Dutch recipe; the Netherlands is in fact the home of potatoes, usually served with many tasty sauces. So let’s see how to prepare them in no time!
How to make French fries
Wash the potatoes and peel them with a potato peeler. (1) Now put them in a pot with hot water, boil a few seconds (2) and then remove the water by pouring the potatoes into a colander. Let them cool and cut them into slices. (3)
Pour the potatoes into a non-stick pan with extra virgin olive oil and brown them. (4) Halfway through cooking add the butter (5) and continue to cook for another couple of minutes, stirring occasionally. Turn off when the potatoes are golden brown and crunchy. (6) Serve accompanying them with mayonnaise, ketchup or any salt you prefer.
