Homemade Vegan Avocado Mayo is a condiment with a velvety and enveloping consistency, a delicious variation on classic mayonnaise, prepared without eggs or animal derivatives, also suitable for those who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet.

To serve, simply scoop out the avocado pulp and blend it with an immersion blender along with the strained lime juice, rice milk, and sesame seed oil. Add a few drops of Tabasco for a slightly spicy aftertaste. The result is a thick, aromatic spread, perfect for spreading on crostini and canapés as a starter or appetizer, or as a side dish for fresh salads, grilled vegetables, basmati rice, and baked fish.

Is Avocado Mayo Good For You?

Yes! Vegan avocado mayonnaise can be a healthy alternative to traditional mayo, especially when made with simple, whole-food ingredients. Avocado provides heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, vitamin E, and fiber, while avoiding the saturated fats found in some conventional mayonnaise. Store-bought versions can vary, so it’s best to check for added sugars, oils, or preservatives. Homemade avocado mayo is particularly nutritious and versatile, making it a wholesome option for sandwiches, salads, and dips.

What's The Best Avocado To Use?

For perfect results, choose a Hass avocado and ensure it's perfectly ripe by gently pressing the skin: if it feels soft and slightly yielding, the fruit is ready to eat. If you have an unripe avocado at home, simply place it in a paper bread bag with an apple: it will ripen in a couple of days.

Vegan Avocado Mayo Variations

Instead of Tabasco, you can use a crushed garlic clove, a pinch of wasabi, grated ginger, or a pinch of chili powder. You can replace the lime with lemon, if desired, or you can add your favorite herbs, such as basil, parsley, or mint, to the rest of the ingredients.
