Surely it has happened to you too to accumulate plastic containers, the classic ones in which fruit and vegetables are sold, but also other products such as dried fruit: sometimes you throw them away, but sometimes you accumulate them in the cupboards thinking that sooner or later they will be useful, but without knowing exactly how. We suggest it to you: plastic containers, in fact, can be easily recycled and become useful containers for everyday life, not only cute but also sustainable. Here are the most creative ways to recycle fruit and vegetable containers.

1. Use Trays to Organize Drawers

Often the drawers at home, in the kitchen but not only, become very messy, so why not create homemade organizers using fruit bowls? They are very useful, placed in the drawers, to organize small objects and store them in an orderly way, separating them from each other: in the kitchen, for example, you can use them to organize spices or utensils, while in the rest of the house you can use them for objects of all kinds, from rubber bands to hairpins, from sewing material to pens, erasers and various stationery.

2. Use Trays as Organizers

Not only in the drawer, but also outside: plastic trays can be used as organizers to store in all areas of the house. In the kitchen, for example, they are very practical for arranging products in the pantry, or for containing products that you need to have on hand such as spices, salt and oil, but also in the washing area to store the dish detergent dispenser and sponges. And if you don't like how they look with the plastic in plain sight you can always embellish them, for example using paint and colored ribbons to give them a whole new look. Obviously you can use them not only in the kitchen, but also in other areas such as the bathroom or the desk.

3. Recycle the Trays as a Seedbed

Plastic trays can also be used in the garden or on the terrace. How? They are excellent containers to transform into a seedbed where you can grow your plants: it's very easy, you just have to poke holes in the bottom to allow the water to drain (place a tray of those used for flower boxes underneath), put the soil in your trays and plant all the seeds you want. For a more rustic effect, you can decorate the tray with a strip of jute that can be purchased in DIY stores.

4. Transform Tubs Into Picnic Containers

If you have some tubs with lids (for example, those in which cherry tomatoes or dried fruit are sold) you can transform them into excellent picnic containers after washing them thoroughly: they are ideal for transporting food, because the plastic prevents any liquids from dripping and they also already have a lid; for example, you can use them to transport already-cut fruit, snacks, sliced cakes, cheeses and cured meats. For greater safety during transport, close them with an elastic band or film, so as to be sure that they open.

5. Turn Them Into an Air Freshener

Do you want to make your kitchen, bedroom or living room more fragrant, but you don't want to spend too much on real air fresheners? Recycle fruit bowls and turn them into a DIY air freshener: first decorate the container using paint, ribbons, colored paper and anything that enhances its appearance, then make some holes in the walls and fill with dried flowers or pot pourri, maybe adding a few drops of the essential oil with the aroma you prefer.
