After nearly a decade of fan petitions, social media campaigns, and nostalgic cravings, McDonald’s finally brought back its beloved Snack Wraps on July 10, 2025. Available in Spicy and Ranch varieties, the wraps feature a McCrispy chicken strip, shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, and sauce, all tucked into a soft flour tortilla. But while the fast-food giant hoped to reignite Snack Wrap mania, the reaction has been far more complicated.
What’s New—and What’s Missing
The original Snack Wraps, discontinued in 2016, were known for their grilled or crispy chicken options, simple build, and portability. The 2025 version swaps in McDonald’s new McCrispy Strip, a breaded white meat tender, and offers only two sauces: ranch and spicy pepper. Fans quickly noticed the absence of grilled chicken, as well as the missing honey mustard and chipotle BBQ flavors that once rounded out the lineup.
“I was furious when they took them off the menu,” wrote one reviewer for the Cincinnati Enquirer. “Now I’m still angry—they only partially brought them back”.
Mixed Reviews from Fans and Food Critics
Initial taste tests have yielded lukewarm praise. While some applauded the spicy version’s habanero kick and the crispy texture of the chicken, others found the wraps underwhelming, citing uneven sauce distribution, skimpy cheese, and a lack of flavor balance.
USA TODAY’s team described the wraps as “just OK,” with one reporter lamenting that her wrap had “no sauce” and tasted like “just chicken”. On social media, reactions ranged from emotional nostalgia to outright disappointment. “This is not the Snack Wrap I thought y’all were bringing back,” one user tweeted, while another joked, “My boyfriend got a Snack Wrap without me. Might as well cheat on me while he’s at it”.
McDonald’s has confirmed that the Snack Wraps are not a limited-time offer, but a permanent addition to its lunch and dinner menus. Priced at $2.99 each, they’re available individually or as part of a combo meal with fries and a drink. But with such divided feedback, it remains to be seen whether the wraps will become a lasting hit or fade into fast-food obscurity once again.
