Orange Scented Plain Quinoa Cookies are an easy and delicious recipe featuring this precious pseudo-cereal with its many beneficial properties. These crunchy and fragrant treats are made with a butter-free dough made from quinoa, cooked by absorption in milk flavored with orange zest, flour, whole cane sugar, seed oil, orange juice, and ground cinnamon.

Baked until golden brown, these fragrant biscuits are perfect for breakfast to start your day off right or as a healthy, wholesome snack.

Quinoa Cookies Variations

In addition to cinnamon, you can flavor the biscuits with a teaspoon of vanilla extract or ground cardamom seeds or, for a more indulgent result, you can glaze the biscuits with melted dark chocolate.

How to Make Orange Scented Quinoa Cookies

To prepare the quinoa biscuits, first collect the milk and the orange zest in a saucepan with a thick bottom, then put it on the heat and bring to the boil.

As soon as the milk is almost boiling, remove the orange peel.

Pour the quinoa, rinsed thoroughly under running water.

Let the quinoa cook gently, stirring often with a ladle, until the liquid is completely absorbed, then transfer it to a bowl and let it cool.

In a separate bowl, mix the flour with the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Add the now cold quinoa.

Pour the filtered orange juice.

Finish with seed oil.

Mix everything well with your hands until you obtain a soft but malleable mixture.

Take the mixture with an ice cream scoop and form many balls on a baking tray, lined with baking paper, taking care to place them a few centimeters apart from each other.

Crush the cookie balls with the bottom of a glass until you obtain discs about 1/2 cm thick.

Place the biscuits in a hot oven at 355°F/180°C and cook for approximately 25 minutes.

Once the cooking time is up, take the quinoa biscuits out of the oven and let them cool on a rack, then arrange them on a serving plate. Enjoy!

Storage Instructions

Quinoa cookies can be stored at room temperature, tightly closed in a tin, for up to 4-5 days.
