Shake Shack has launched fried pickles, its first-ever new side dish, available for a limited time starting May 20, 2025. Featuring crispy dill pickles with Shack Ranch, this latest addition is shaking up the fast-food scene.
Shake Shack is shaking things up with the launch of fried pickles, marking the first time in its 20-year history that the fast-casual chain has added a new side dish beyond its signature crinkle-cut fries. The crispy, tangy bites debuted nationwide on May 20, 2025, and are available for a limited time alongside Shake Shack’s summer BBQ menu.
Shake Shack’s fried pickles start with thick-cut dill pickles, brined in the brand’s proprietary seasoning, then lightly battered, seasoned, and fried until golden brown. Each order comes with a side of house-made Shack Ranch for dipping, making them the perfect pairing for burgers, sandwiches, or even Shake Shack’s classic fries.
The decision to introduce fried pickles was driven by customer demand. Last year, Shake Shack tested the concept as a burger topping on its Carolina BBQ Burger, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. With one-third of Shake Shack guests expressing interest in more side options, the brand decided to give fried pickles their own spotlight.
Fried pickles are available à la carte for $3.99 or as an add-on to any Shake Shack order. While the chain has not confirmed whether they will become a permanent menu item, fans eager to try them should act fast before the limited-time offering disappears.
