Finished with banana slices and chocolate chips, and then sprinkled with granulated sugar , this simple and genuine cake will win over adults and children alike with its moist, slightly caramelized surface and soft, fragrant interior.

Once ready, you can brush it with a drizzle of warm honey and serve it for breakfast or as a snack with a glass of latte or a fruit tea, or you can bring it to the table at the end of Sunday lunch along with a cup of espresso.

Chocolate Chip Banana Cake Variations

If you like, for a more persistent aroma, you can use a pot of banana yogurt, or you can opt for the lactose-free one: for a dessert also suitable for people with food intolerances.

If you like, you can enrich the dessert with chopped dried fruit or bitter cocoa powder, you can add chopped bananas to the mixture or, in addition to vanilla, you can flavor everything with a pinch of cinnamon or ground cardamom seeds.

How to Make Chocolate Chip Banana Cake

To prepare the banana and chocolate cake, first whisk the eggs with the granulated sugar and vanilla in a bowl until you obtain a light and frothy mixture, then pour in the sunflower seed oil.

Add the Greek yogurt.

Incorporate the sifted flour and yeast.

Finish with dark chocolate chips.

Mix gently with a spatula.

Pour the thick and creamy mixture obtained into a 22 cm diameter cake tin, already oiled and floured.

Peel the bananas and cut them into thin slices lengthwise.

Arrange the banana slices on the surface of the cake.

Sprinkle with granulated sugar.

Sprinkle with dark chocolate chips and cook everything in a hot oven at 355°F/180°C for about 40 minutes.

Once the time has passed, take the cake out of the oven and let it cool.

Turn the cake out onto a serving plate and brush the surface with warm honey.

Bring the cake to the table.

If you have any leftovers, the chocolate chip banana cake can be stored at room temperature, under a cake dome, for up to 3 days.
