To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its iconic Frappuccino, Starbucks is launching a bold new take on the beloved blended beverage: the Strato Frappuccino. Available nationwide starting July 8, 2025, the new drinks are named after the Italian word strato, meaning “layer”—a nod to their visually striking, multi-textured design. With this release, Starbucks is offering a more refined, modern version of the Frappuccino that still delivers the indulgent fun fans expect.

The Three New Flavors

The Strato lineup includes three limited-time flavors, each crafted with layered cold foams and thoughtfully paired ingredients:

  • Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino: A cozy blend of Frappuccino Roast coffee, milk, and ice, topped with a brown sugar-flavored cream cold foam and finished with a dusting of cinnamon. It’s a nod to the warm, spiced notes of Starbucks’ Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso, now in frozen form.
  • Salted Caramel Mocha Strato Frappuccino: This decadent drink combines mocha sauce, Frappuccino Roast, milk, and ice, layered with salted caramel-flavored cold foam and drizzled with caramel. It’s rich, sweet, and just salty enough to keep things interesting.
  • Strawberry Matcha Strato Frappuccino: A vibrant, non-coffee option that blends Starbucks’ reformulated unsweetened matcha, milk, and ice, topped with a strawberry-flavored cream cold foam. The result is a sweet-meets-earthy sip that’s as photogenic as it is refreshing.

Each drink is available in Tall, Grande, and Venti sizes, with prices starting at $4.95. They’re customizable, too—so you can swap milks, adjust sweetness, or add extra toppings to make your Strato your own.

A Strategic Move in Starbucks’ “Back to Basics” Plan

The Strato Frappuccinos arrive as part of Starbucks’ broader “Back to Starbucks” initiative under CEO Brian Niccol, which aims to streamline the menu and re-center the brand around its core offerings. Earlier this year, the company retired 13 drinks—including several Frappuccino flavors—to make room for innovation. The Strato series is one of the first new product lines to emerge from that shift, offering a more elevated, barista-driven experience while still appealing to the chain’s loyal frozen-drink fans.

A Visual and Textural Upgrade

Unlike traditional Frappuccinos, which are fully blended, the Strato drinks are intentionally layered, creating a more dynamic flavor journey from top to bottom. The cold foams add a creamy, cloud-like texture that contrasts with the icy base, while the layered presentation makes each drink a visual showstopper—perfect for social media snaps and summer sipping alike.
