Taco Bell is rewinding the clock with its new Y2K Menu, a limited-time lineup launching nationwide on September 9 that resurrects five of the chain’s most beloved—and long-discontinued—items from the early 2000s. The menu is part of Taco Bell’s ongoing “Decades” campaign, which celebrates iconic offerings from different eras. This time, the spotlight is on the turn-of-the-millennium favorites that fans have been begging to see again.

From burritos to empanadas, the Y2K Menu is a tribute to the golden age of fast food innovation, when Taco Bell was known for bold flavors, quirky commercials, and cult-favorite creations.

What’s Back on the Menu

The Y2K Menu features five returning items, each priced under $3:

  • Chili Cheese Burrito: Also known as the “Chilito,” this simple but legendary wrap is filled with hearty chili and melted cheddar cheese. Once a staple in the Midwest, it’s now back for everyone at $2.99.
  • 7-Layer Burrito: A vegetarian classic that layers refried beans, rice, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes, and a three-cheese blend inside a flour tortilla. It returns at $2.49.
  • Double Decker Taco: A crunchy taco wrapped in a soft tortilla spread with refried beans, filled with seasoned beef, lettuce, and shredded cheese. First introduced in 1995 and popularized in the 2000s, it’s back for $2.49.
  • Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco: Originally launched in 2013 and discontinued in 2019, this fan-favorite features a Cool Ranch Doritos shell stuffed with beef, lettuce, and cheese. It’s making a triumphant return at $2.49.
  • Caramel Apple Empanada: The sweet finale of the lineup, this dessert wraps warm apple filling and gooey caramel inside a crispy pastry shell. It’s back at $2.99, with early access for Rewards members from September 2–8.

Merch, Rewards, and a Lil Jon Launch Party

Taco Bell isn’t stopping at food. The Y2K celebration includes a three-week merch drop, featuring a collaboration with Ed Hardy, retro-inspired digital watches, and vintage-style T-shirts. These exclusive items will be available every Tuesday from September 2 to 16, with limited quantities released at 2PM PT.

To kick off the launch, Taco Bell is hosting a one-night-only party in Los Angeles, headlined by Lil Jon, who rose to fame during the Y2K era. The event will feature throwback music, themed decor, and early access to the full menu.

Why It Matters

Taco Bell’s Y2K Menu taps into a powerful wave of nostalgia, especially among millennials and Gen Z consumers who grew up with these items. According to Chief Marketing Officer Taylor Montgomery, the menu is a response to years of fan requests: “No one did the 2000s like Taco Bell. That era gave us some of our most iconic menu items, and fans have never stopped asking for them.”
