Turmeric Bacon Gnocchi are a colorful and spicy main dish, ready in just minutes. To prepare them, simply brown the guanciale in a pan until the fat has completely rendered, then add the turmeric, a pinch of ground pepper, and a ladle of boiling water to the cooking liquid. Use the resulting creamy sauce, along with grated pecorino cheese, to stir in the potato gnocchi.

Can I Use Homemade Gnocchi?

To speed up the process, we used ready-made gnocchi, but for a more authentic result, you can make them at home following our recipe.

Turmeric Bacon Gnocchi Variations

If you like, you can replace the chopped parsley, added here as a finishing touch, with chopped chives, while if you don't like spicy flavors, you can omit the pepper from the ingredients.

If you like, you can replace the grated pecorino with parmesan, while for a lighter result, you can opt for smoked speck instead of crispy guanciale.

For a richer variation, you can combine the rest of the ingredients with vegetables of your choice, such as sautéed zucchini or pan-fried asparagus, or you can use the prepared sauce to flavor egg pasta, such as fettuccine or tonnarelli.

How to Make Turmeric Bacon Gnocchi

To prepare the turmeric gnocchi, first bring a large pot of salted water to a boil; then cut the guanciale into strips and brown it gently in a non-stick pan without adding any fat.

As soon as the salami starts to turn golden and sizzling, add the turmeric, previously mixed with a generous pinch of ground pepper.

Dilute the turmeric with a ladle of boiling water.

Let it simmer for a few more moments, or until the sauce becomes thick and creamy.

Plunge the gnocchi into boiling water and let them cook until they float to the surface, then remove them with a slotted spoon.

Drain them directly into the pan with the dressing.

Sauté the gnocchi for a few moments on the heat, mixing delicately with a spatula.

Stir with grated pecorino cheese.

Flavor with chopped fresh parsley and mix again.

Distribute the turmeric gnocchi onto individual plates, bring to the table and serve. Enjoy!
