Baked Chinese cabbage is a quick and easy to prepare side dish. Chinese cabbage, also called pak choi, is a variety of tasty cabbage with a delicate flavor that in its shape resembles the most famous chard. The delicate taste of Chinese cabbage makes it an excellent ally in the kitchen for preparation in the pan or in the oven: a tasty side dish that we have prepared with a light gratin with breadcrumbs, parsley and Parmesan cheese. On the shelves of supermarkets we now find many ingredients belonging to oriental culinary cultures and the pak choi is really a great find! Let's see how to cook it in just a few steps!
How to prepare baked Chinese cabbage
Carefully clean the Chinese cabbage under cold running water so as to remove all traces of soil. Drain and pat it lightly with a sheet of absorbent paper (1). Remove the base with a sharp knife and cut the cabbage into 4 parts lengthwise. In a bowl, prepare the gratin: pour the breadcrumbs, the grated Parmesan cheese, the finely chopped parsley, a clove of garlic deprived of the soul, salt and pepper. Drizzle with some extra virgin olive oil and mix all the ingredients until you obtain a homogeneous gratin (2). Take a baking dish, sprinkle the bottom with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and lay the cut cabbage, cover it evenly with the gratin so as to cover it completely (3). Bake your Chinese cabbage in the oven for 8 minutes at 200 degrees static mode and further 3 minutes grill mode to get a crunchy surface. Get it out of the oven and serve immediately!
