Black bean hummus is a truly delicious and a creamy preparation that instantly transports you to the Mediterranean locales. It is an extremely simple dish requiring practically no cooking skills yet you can delight your guests with restaurant-y flavors at the comfort your home…(and a fraction of the cost that you bear to entertain your guests at any fancy place outside your home).

You may further simplify this dish by replacing the sesame seeds (and the steps involving sesame seeds) with three tablespoons of tahini. Serve this hummus preparation with fresh vegetables and pita bread or spread it over your morning toast to enjoy it as a healthy spread.

Instructions

Soak sesame seeds in half cup of warm water for about 20 minutes. Transfer the soaked sesame seeds without the water in to a clean food processor. Grind the seeds with two tablespoons of water or more until smooth in consistency.

Add fresh cilantro, two tablespoons water, fresh lime juice, extra virgin olive oil, salt, black beans, garlic clove, jalapeno pepper to the blender jar containing sesame paste and process everything well until smooth and even in consistency.

Transfer the black bean hummus in to the serving dish and drizzle extra virgin olive oil over it and red chili powder. Serve with pita wedges and vegetable sticks and enjoy!

Tips

To make this recipe short, you may replace the sesame seeds with about 3 tablespoons of tahini paste. Lightly heat the pita bread wedges before serving. You may increase the quantity of extra virgin olive oil, add it over the prepared hummus as topping according to your preference. Store the prepared hummus sealed in an air tight container for up to 4 to 5 days.
