Chocolate salami is one of the most popular no-bake desserts. Simple and super greedy, it is made with a mixture based on dark chocolate, bitter cocoa powder, dry biscuits, eggs, butter and sugar, then shaped like a sausage. The shape and the coating based on powdered sugar make it look like a real sausage. It is a delicious dessert that takes us back in time and to the flavors of childhood, but flavored with for an aromatic note.
Easy to make, it is one of the most popular desserts that win over children and adults, ideal for a or a birthday buffet. Garnished with a sprig of whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream, it is an irresistible dessert at the end of a meal, even for special occasions such as Christmas and Easter. Just chop the dry biscuits finely, mix all the ingredients together and form the salami with the mixture. Let it rest in the refrigerator and it will be ready to enjoy. Like any classic recipe, there is not a single version and each family has its own variant, so customize it as you want according to your taste.
You can enrich the dough with dried fruit, or flavor it with coffee.
We have chosen to use eggs, which must be very fresh, precisely because they are used raw.
If you don’t have fresh eggs, it is possible to follow a slightly different recipe from the original or, alternatively, for greater safety, you can proceed with their pasteurization.
How to store Chocolate Salami
The chocolate salami can be stored in the refrigerator, covered with cling film, for 3-4 days. Freezing is not recommended.
How to make Chocolate Salami
Coarsely chop the dark chocolate (1) and then melt it in a bain-marie.
Combine the egg and the softened butter in a bowl (2).
Add the granulated sugar (3).
Work everything with a hand whisk (4).
Coarsely crumble the biscuits (5).
Add the rum to the mixture (6).
Add the bitter cocoa powder (7).
Mix again (8), until you get a homogeneous mixture.
Add the melted chocolate, very cold, and finally the crumbled biscuits (9).
Incorporate well (10).
Transfer the mixture to the center of a sheet of parchment paper (11).
Roll up your chocolate salami, giving it its characteristic shape (12).
Seal the sides and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (13).
Take your chocolate salami out of the refrigerator, remove the parchment paper and sprinkle with a little powdered sugar (14).
Cut into slices and enjoy (15).
