Ed Sheeran is giving fans a taste of his upcoming album Play—literally. Ahead of the record’s September 12 debut, the four-time Grammy winner has teamed up with cult-favorite ice cream brand Van Leeuwen to launch Play Pink, a limited-edition flavor inspired by the album’s vibrant aesthetic and upbeat energy.

The collaboration drops September 10 at most Van Leeuwen scoop shops in New York City, offering fans a two-day head start on celebrating Sheeran’s return to “big pop” sounds.

What’s in Play Pink?

The ice cream is as bold as its muse:

  • Base: Pink punch ice cream
  • Swirl: Dragon fruit
  • Mix-in: Pieces of guava cake

The result is a neon pink scoop that Van Leeuwen CEO Ben Van Leeuwen calls “the pinkest ice cream we’ve ever made”. The flavor is designed to mirror the joy and playfulness of Play, both in color and taste.

Music Meets Dessert

Sheeran has described Play as a high-energy, pop-forward album, and this collab is meant to capture that spirit in edible form. “It was cool to capture the essence of the album through the flavor and the color of this special scoop,” Van Leeuwen said in the launch announcement.

The release follows a string of creative partnerships for the ice cream brand, which has previously teamed up with Sabrina Carpenter (Espresso flavor), Kylie Jenner (Peach Mango Sorbet), and even unexpected names like Kraft and Hidden Valley Ranch.

Where to Get It

Play Pink will be available while supplies last at most NYC Van Leeuwen locations starting September 10. Given the brand’s track record with celebrity collabs—and Sheeran’s global fanbase—expect it to sell out quickly.
