The Girl Scouts of the USA are kicking off their 2026 cookie season with a brand-new flavor that’s already generating buzz: Exploremores, a sandwich cookie inspired by the classic rocky road ice cream. Announced on September 9, the new treat will join the lineup alongside beloved staples like Thin Mints, Samoas/Caramel deLites, and Tagalongs/Peanut Butter Patties.

Exploremores feature two rich chocolate cookies filled with a marshmallow and toasted almond–flavored crème, designed to capture the nostalgic mix of chocolate, nuts, and marshmallow that defines rocky road. According to the Girl Scouts, the cookie “captures the limitless spirit of exploration” that drives the organization’s mission.

First Taste Reviews

Early tasters from outlets like Taste of Home and AllRecipes say the cookies deliver a deep chocolate flavor with a noticeable almond nuttiness, though the marshmallow notes are more subtle. The crème filling is smooth and sweet without being overpowering, and the chocolate cookies themselves are thick and slightly soft.

While some reviewers wished for a stronger marshmallow presence, most agreed that chocolate lovers will find Exploremores indulgent and satisfying.

Out with the Old, In with the New

The debut of Exploremores comes as the Girl Scouts retire two other flavors after the 2025 season:

  • Girl Scout S’mores – graham sandwich cookies with chocolate and marshmallow filling
  • Toast-Yay! – French toast–flavored cookies dipped in icing

Both were fan favorites for years, but their exit makes room for fresh innovations like Exploremores.

When and Where to Get Them

Exploremores will be available nationwide during the 2026 Girl Scout cookie season, which typically runs January through April (exact dates vary by region). Customers can purchase them:

  • In person at local cookie booths
  • Online through the Girl Scouts’ digital cookie platform

As always, proceeds from cookie sales stay local, funding troop activities, community projects, and leadership programs for girls.
