KFC is shaking up traditional quick-service dining with an ambitious new store design built around elevated hospitality, digital ordering, and extended morning hours. Last Thursday KFC officially announced the rollout of Open House, an experimental restaurant concept built as an operational innovation lab for the brand's more than 3,500 U.S. locations. Located at 8751 El Dorado Parkway in McKinney, Texas, the 3,400-square-foot location officially opens to the public on Saturday, September 26, 2026, offering expanded daily operating hours from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. CT.

Inside The U S First Breakfast Menu And Seasonal Flavors

The centerpiece of the Open House location is KFC's first-ever dedicated breakfast menu in the United States, bringing morning meals to domestic storefronts following proven international success. The experimental menu lineup features:

  • Morning Breakfast Classics: Craveable morning items including hot Breakfast Sandwiches, crispy Hashbrown Sticks, sweet Mini Cronuts, freshly brewed hot coffee, and specialty iced lattes served alongside Original Recipe chicken tenders.
  • Expanded Side Dishes: New savory sides including golden Fried Green Beans and Spicy Pickles alongside traditional staples like Mashed Potatoes with Gravy and Southwest Corn.
  • Elevated Beverage Lineup: Premium drink additions derived from KFC's global beverage lineup, featuring fruit boba refreshers, flavored specialty lemonades, and Krunch Shakes crowned with crunchy dessert toppings.
  • Expanded Chicken Lineup: Crispy Original Recipe Tenders served alongside new customizable Drizzled and Dipped sauce varieties, with foundational bone-in chicken and wings remaining core menu options.

Table Service And Operational Innovations

Designed to accommodate 52 seated dine-in guests, the Open House model shifts operational focus toward a fast-casual hospitality experience. Customers place their orders using self-service digital kiosks or mobile apps before taking a seat, where team members deliver fresh orders directly to their table. The location also features double drive-thru lanes, a dedicated mobile order pickup station, an interactive digital photo booth, and an in-store Swag Bar selling exclusive branded KFC merchandise.

"It's the Kentucky Fried comeback made real in one restaurant," stated Catherine Tan-Gillespie, President of KFC U.S. "Open House is designed to show off and test various aspects of our overarching turnaround strategy."

"People don't remember what they eat, but they remember how they were feeling when they were eating," added Christophe Poirier, Chief Concept Officer at KFC. "We're automating tasks like ordering so employees can focus on hospitality."
