Fast food giant Taco Bell is teaming up with famed bakery brand Milk Bar once again to reimagine an iconic dessert flavor in a crispy handheld format.
This week, Taco Bell officially announced the nationwide rollout of the Milk Bar Birthday Cake Empanada. First teased during the chain's Live Más LIVE event, the new limited-time offering will land at participating Taco Bell locations across the United States on Thursday, October 15, 2026, priced at $3.49.
Inside The Birthday Cake Empanada Recipe And Rewards Promotion
Marking the third dessert collaboration between Taco Bell and Milk Bar, the new release translates Chef Christina Tosi's signature birthday cake recipe into a warm fast-food treat. The empanada features a crispy, golden empanada shell stuffed with rich cake batter-flavored filling, topped with pink frosting and colorful rainbow sprinkles. It retails for $3.49 at participating restaurants nationwide, served in specially designed custom packaging while supplies last.

From October 15 through October 28, registered Taco Bell Rewards members with birthdays added to their profile can select either the Milk Bar Birthday Cake Empanada or a Mountain Dew Baja Blast Freeze as their free birthday reward. This collaboration between Taco Bell and Milk Bar builds on previous brand tie-ins, including the initial Strawberry Multiverse Truffle test and the 2025 nationwide launch of Birthday Cake Churros.
Corporate Strategy And Culinary Innovation
The menu expansion reinforces Taco Bell's strategy of pairing familiar sweet concepts with high-energy fast-food menu items.
"Our fans have shown us they love seeing familiar flavors show up on the Taco Bell menu in exciting ways, and that's what makes partnering with Milk Bar so great," stated Liz Matthews, Global Chief Food Innovation Officer at Taco Bell. "The Milk Bar Birthday Cake Empanada lets us take an iconic Birthday Cake flavor and reimagine it as a crispy Taco Bell treat that's nostalgic, unexpected and made for celebrating everyday moments."
