Fast food giant Taco Bell is teaming up with language learning platform Duolingo to take National Taco Day international with a worldwide fast-food celebration. This week, Taco Bell and Duolingo officially announced their inaugural Global Taco Day campaign. Built around the idea that the word "taco" translates seamlessly across more than 30 languages, the cross-promotional partnership officially launches on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, spanning participating storefronts across seven countries: the United States, Canada, Australia, China, India, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

The centerpiece of the collaboration is a limited-edition condiment created in honor of Duolingo’s famous green owl mascot, Duo:

  • Duo Habanero Sauce Flavor Profile: Described as bright and tangy with fruity notes and a building habanero pepper heat, the specialty sauce is packaged in vibrant Duolingo-green packets featuring taco-inspired sayings printed across nine different languages.
  • U.S. Ordering Specs: Starting October 6, U.S. customers receive one free packet of Duo Habanero Sauce with every purchase of a Doritos Locos Taco, with additional packets available à la carte for $0.20 each while supplies last.
  • Super Duolingo Trial: From October 1 through October 6, Taco Bell Rewards members can claim a complimentary one-month trial of Super Duolingo, the app's premium ad-free tier.

Culture Language And Food Takeovers

Alongside digital promotions, the two brands are hosting live pop-up activations on October 6 at select locations in New York City, Toronto, Mumbai, and Shanghai.

"Language and food are two of the most powerful ways we connect with culture and with each other," stated Emmanuel Orssaud, Chief Marketing Officer at Duolingo. "Taco is a rare word that travels easily across cultures, making it a fun starting point for getting people curious about language."

"There's something pretty special about a word that can be understood across languages and cultures," added Amy Ellis Durini, Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer at Taco Bell International. "Together with Duolingo, we're celebrating a love of tacos that brings people together everywhere."
