Frozen treats are all the rage in the summer but store-bought ones often include questionable ingredients. Fortunately, you can make these homemade watermelon popsicles which have three layers to them making them look just like fresh watermelon. Made with fresh fruit, sweetened sour cream, and chocolate chips, these popsicles are healthy and refreshing when it is hot outside.

To make the watermelon popsicles, watermelon gets blended before being poured into popsicle molds and placed in the freezer to set. Then, they get studded with chocolate chips before being layered with the sweetened sour cream and pureed kiwi to make two additional layers.

What are Watermelon Popsicles?

Watermelon popsicles are popsicles that include layers of pureed watermelon, sweetened sour cream, and kiwi puree, which mimic the colors for fresh watermelon. They include some chocolate chips for added sweet flavor to mimic the watermelon seeds.

Pro Tips

  • Finely blend the watermelon so that there aren’t any large pieces.
  • Make sure you use seedless watermelon for this recipe, or if you have one with seeds, that you remove the seeds before blending.
  • Freeze the popsicles between layers so that the layers stay separate.
  • For easier unmolding, run warm water over the bottoms of the molds which will help the popsicles release more easily.
