It is well known that Italian cuisine is loved and appreciated all over the world: to confirm this theory once again is a ranking of the most searched Italian dishes in the world. Let's look at it together and discover which dish won first place.
Love, as we know, transcends all boundaries… even geographical ones, when it comes to Italian cuisine. Yes, research by Affidabile.org has shown how recipes from Italian culinary tradition are sought all over the world: the ranking was created using some Google Trends data on online searches carried out between January 2024 and March 2025. Now the curiosity is legitimate: which dish won first place? We'll reveal the ranking to you right away.
Let's say it like this, without too many turns of phrase: fettuccine Alfredo takes first place. We know that you were probably thinking of recipes like carbonara or ragù, but the winner was a dish that in reality, over there in Italy, has lost much of its charm. But obviously, the most famous recipe of Roman cuisine could not be left out: carbonara in fact takes second place, followed by focaccia.
The ranking continues with some of the most famous dishes of the Belpaese cuisine: we find meatballs, pesto alla genovese, spaghetti aglio e olio, but also recipes such as ossobuco alla milanese, arancini, penne alla vodka and pollo alla cacciatora. However, in the list we also find dishes that perhaps we would not expect such as pasta e patate, pastina, pasta e fagioli and Neapolitan wedding soup. Even their desserts are not left out of the competition with tiramisu, Sicilian cannoli and panna cotta. In short, a ranking that confirms once again how their vast gastronomic tradition is truly appreciated throughout the world.
It is also interesting to note the ranking of the countries where there were the highest number of searches: in the top 3 we find Malta, the United States and Australia, followed by Canada, Anguilla, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and the Seychelles. And in Europe? Germany, Spain and France are the three countries where a considerable number of searches were carried out.
Another fact that emerged from these surveys, which analyzed a time frame of over a year, is that the month in which the highest number of searches were recorded was December: a growth that was most likely increased by the Christmas period and the desire to amaze guests with typical dishes of our beloved Italian cuisine.
