How do you keep chicken nuggets crispy?
Chicken nuggets are deliciously crispy when they are fresh out of the pan (or oven), but then can quickly become soggy. To prevent this, keep them on paper towel to absorb excess moisture. You can also Panko breadcrumbs in combination with white breadcrumbs, it will make the nuggets crispier.
Cut the sliced bread into small squares. Use a stick blender (or food processor) and blitz it until bread crumbs form.
In a medium-sized bowl, combine chicken, ginger and garlic paste, soy sauce and paprika. Use a hand blender and blitz until fine.
Place the mixture on a lightly floured surface and add the oil.
Flatten the mixture into a square shape. Using a knife, cut it into small squares.
In a small bowl, mix whisk the egg, and add milk, salt and pepper. Soak each square in the egg mixture.
Using a fork, coat each square with breadcrumbs.
Fry the nuggets in oil until golden brown and cooked.
To make a healthier version of these nuggets, you can bake them. Simply spray the crumbed nuggets with cooking spray and bake at 375°F/180°C until golden brown and cooked (about 15 minutes).
For a cheesy nugget, mix in parmesan with the breadcrumbs, and proceed with the directions as stated.
If you don’t have bread, you can use store-brought breadcrumbs. Panko is a great option; this will make for a crispier nugget.
Uncooked nuggets can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
