Cut the sliced bread into small squares. Use a stick blender (or food processor) and blitz it until bread crumbs form.

In a medium-sized bowl, combine chicken, ginger and garlic paste, soy sauce and paprika. Use a hand blender and blitz until fine.

Place the mixture on a lightly floured surface and add the oil.

Flatten the mixture into a square shape. Using a knife, cut it into small squares.

In a small bowl, mix whisk the egg, and add milk, salt and pepper. Soak each square in the egg mixture.

Using a fork, coat each square with breadcrumbs.

Fry the nuggets in oil until golden brown and cooked.

Recipe Notes

To make a healthier version of these nuggets, you can bake them. Simply spray the crumbed nuggets with cooking spray and bake at 375°F/180°C until golden brown and cooked (about 15 minutes).

For a cheesy nugget, mix in parmesan with the breadcrumbs, and proceed with the directions as stated.

If you don’t have bread, you can use store-brought breadcrumbs. Panko is a great option; this will make for a crispier nugget.

Uncooked nuggets can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
