Deep fried mushrooms are a delicious and really tasty side dish, ideal to prepare during the Autumn to accompany meat dishes, or to make a delicious aperitif and serve them with delicious sauces. For the preparation of this recipe there are different types of mushrooms to use, both individually and together: the most suitable are porcini mushrooms and champignons mushrooms, if you prefer a more crispy consistency, or the pleurotus mushrooms, which have a larger cap and are ideal for those who love a softer consistency. Prepare the fried mushrooms is really easy: you just have to clean them, cut them into slices and then pass them into breadcrumbs and fry them in plenty of seed oil, and then you will have a crispy and tasty course. Here's how to prepare these delicious breaded and fried mushrooms in very little time.


Clean the mushrooms, remove the terrain from the stem helping yourself with a small knife, then clean them with a damp cloth and cut them into slices of about 1/2 centimeter. (1) In a bowl beat the eggs, and add milk, a pinch of salt and some pepper.

Take two dishes and pour the flour in the first and breadcrumbs in the second. Pass the mushrooms first in the flour, then in the egg and, finally, in the breadcrumbs and place them on a sheet of kitchen paper.

Heat the seeds oil in a frying pan and, when it is boiling, fry the mushrooms a little at a time for about 3 minutes, turning them occasionally. (2) Once ready, lift them with a slotted spoon and place them on blotting paper. Then, add a bit of salt and serve them hot. (3)


For the breading of the deep fried mushrooms, you can also prepare the batter: put in a bowl 150 grams of flour, 200ml of water and a pinch of salt, blend well and pass the mushrooms first in the batter, then in breadcrumbs and finally fry them in plenty of oil.

For a quick preparation pass the mushrooms only in beaten egg and breadcrumbs, and then fry them. The breading will be less thick, but the mushrooms will still be quite crispy.

To make your fried mushrooms even tastier, add some parsley or chopped rosemary to the breadcrumbs.

If you decide to prepare deep fried mushrooms for an aperitif, serve them accompanied by a delicate mayonnaise, a tasty mustard, or with the sauces you like best.

You can also serve deep fried mushrooms with a bit of lemon juice.

If you love the mushroom side dishes, you can prepare tasty mushrooms sautéed in a frying pan with parsley, garlic and extra-virgin olive oil in very little time.

How to Preserve the Deep Fried Mushrooms

Deep Fried mushrooms should be eaten as soon as they are cooked, but you can also preserve them in a hermetically sealed container for 1 day in the refrigerator. Before eating them, heat them for a few seconds in the microwave oven, or in a convection oven at 200° C until they are crispy.
