Tips

Any type of grapefruit works for this recipe, but red and pink varieties will give a sweeter, bolder flavor.

Freshly squeezed juice is best for making sorbet.

Add other citrus fruits to your sorbet for an ultra-refreshing dessert. Lemon, lime, orange, mandarin, clementine, and yuzu are delicious options.

To help stabilize your sorbet, you can add a tablespoon or so of vodka.

How to Store Grapefruit Sorbet

Homemade grapefruit sorbet will last one month when kept in an airtight container in the freezer.

Ingredients

Water
1 1/4 cup
Granulated sugar
1 cup + 1 tbsp
grapefruit zest
1 tbsp
freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
1 1/2 cups

How to Make Grapefruit Sorbet

Pour the water and sugar into a pot and heat over medium-high. Allow the mixture to boil, then whisk to dissolve the sugar.

Take the pot off the heat. Stir in the grapefruit zest, then set aside to cool to room temperature.

Pour in the grapefruit juice.

Stir.

Pour the mixture into a bowl or baking dish.

Put the mixture in the fridge for at least three hours.

Freeze until ready to serve.
