Eggs are one of the most consumed foods globally, especially when it comes to making breakfast. There are different animals in the world today that lay eggs including the chicken.

When it comes to chicken eggs, there are various weight classes that are defined by their sizes. Some could be jumbo, extra-large, large, medium, small or even the peewee size.

Jumbo eggs weigh a whopping 2.5 oz (70.9 g) and per dozen, they can weigh up to 30 oz (850.8 g). The weight of an extra-large egg is 2.25 oz (63.8 g), and per dozen, they weigh 27 oz (765.44 g).

For large-sized eggs, the weight is 2 oz (56.7 g) per egg, and per dozen, they weigh 24 oz (680.39 g). A medium egg's weight is 1.75 oz (49.6 g), and a small egg weighs 1.5 oz (42.5 g). The peewee chicken egg has the smallest size at 1.25 oz (35.4 g).

Usually, for cooking or baking, extra large or large eggs are preferred. Medium eggs are often the smallest eggs available in a grocery store, along with large and extra-large eggs.

Egg sizes like small eggs, peewee eggs and jumbo eggs are rare to find.
