The lines between global snack culture and music fandom have officially blurred into a history-making rollout. On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, parent company Mondelēz International pulled back the curtain on its biggest entertainment partnership to date, confirming that K-pop royalty BTS is joining forces with the world's number-one cookie brand.

Launching across more than 80 global markets, the Limited Edition OREO & BTS Cookies aren't just a simple packaging swap. Instead, the collaboration introduces a ground-up reinvention of the classic treat, debuting Oreo's first-ever purple cookie wafers—a vibrant homage to the signature color of the band and their fiercely devoted international fan community, known as ARMY.

A Taste of Korean Heritage

At the center of this historic drop is a deeply sentimental flavor profile designed by the band members themselves. The cookies feature a custom sweet creme inspired by hotteok, a warm, brown sugar-stuffed pancake that stands as a beloved staple of South Korea's bustling street market culture.

For the septet—comprising RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook—the choice was deeply personal, bridging childhood nostalgia with their current global stage presence. The rollout follows a massive year for the group, who recently completed their mandatory South Korean military service and topped the Billboard 200 in March with their hit album, Arirang.

“For OREO to be the first snacking brand we've collaborated with globally is a huge honor,” BTS shared in an official joint statement. “We ate them as kids, we eat them in the studio, and now OREO is helping us share a taste of home with the world. We're just so proud to add our own chapter to OREO's amazing story.”

The 13-Year Milestone

To drive massive transactional velocity among collectors, Oreo is implementing a strict scarcity model tied directly to the group’s history. To celebrate the 13th anniversary of BTS, the cookies will feature 13 unique custom embossments stamped right onto the purple wafers.

The custom stamps will vary by package, incentivizing superfans to buy multiple packs to collect the entire set. The rare designs include the individual names of all seven band members, a stylized BTS light stick, and three special Oreo cookie motifs that combine to form a hidden, encoded message dedicated entirely to the fandom. Furthermore, the physical packaging itself acts as a vibrant piece of art, visually mirroring the lively tapestry, sights, and energy of a traditional Korean street food market.

How to Join the Pre-Sale and the Global "Love Letter"

The digital scramble to secure a box is expected to break internet traffic records. Online presales are scheduled to officially open on Monday, June 1, 2026, via Oreo's specialized launch portal. Following the online drop, brick-and-mortar retail distribution will hit major grocery, convenience, and mass retail shelves on Monday, June 8, 2026. The product will run for a strictly limited window while supplies last.

To complement the physical cookies, Oreo is bypassing traditional ad campaigns to build an interactive, omni-channel fan experience. Starting June 8, shoppers can scan a QR code on the packaging or visit a dedicated portal to type playful digital letters to the band, joining a massive community movement to build the "world’s largest love letter" to BTS.
