It’s an easy appetizer recipe to serve for a party, but you can just as easily whip this up for a light weekend dinner dish. It’s easier to eat, and also less messy.

Crunchy on the outside, with all the pizza flavor you’d expect. The filling is easy to customize to get the flavor you want, so don’t forget to have a look at our tasty tips! Grab your basic dough and pizza topping ingredients and get baking!

Tips For Making Pizza Roll Ups

If you want to make it ahead of time, you can make the dough, allow it to rise, and assemble the pizza roll ups. Bake when you’re ready to serve.

To make your own homemade pizza sauce, cook together: 1 can chopped tomato, 1 tbsp olive oil, 2 crushed garlic cloves, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 3 tbsp fresh basil, 2 tsp dried oregano (or 2 tbsp fresh oregano), salt and pepper to taste. If the sauce is a bit too acidic to your taste, you can add a tsp of sugar.

Pizza Roll Up Variation Ideas

These easy pizza roll ups are made without meat, but feel free to add it if you prefer: pepperoni, ham, cooked bacon, or crumbled Italian sausage will all work.

Add more mozzarella cheese (or any other pizza cheese blend) if you like your pizzas very cheesy.

Other delicious additions include olives, bell peppers, pineapple, sliced mushrooms, smoked chicken, basil pesto, sundried tomato, and fresh herbs.

Short on time? You can also use store-bought pizza dough, tortillas, or bread. Reduce the cooking time if you’re using bread or tortillas.

How To Store Pizza Roll Ups

Store the leftover pizza roll ups in an airtight container (in the fridge) for up to 3 days. Reheat them in the Airfryer (to maintain crispiness) for 2 minutes at 350°F. You can also warm them in the microwave for 30 seconds. Just note they won’t be as crispy!

Flour
430 g (3 1/2 cups)
Olive oil
40 ml (3 tbsp)
Water
230 ml (1 cup)
Dry yeast
7 g
salt
10 g
Tomato sauce
Grated cheese
Olive oil
Oregano
egg, beaten
1
black sesame seeds
Sesame seeds

How To Make Pizza Roll Ups

Mix the flour, yeast, and salt in a bowl.

Add the oil and water.

Massage well until a smooth dough forms.

Cover with cling film and let rest for 2 hours, or until doubled size.

Divide the dough into several pieces.

Form each into a smooth ball.

In a small bowl, mix together the tomato sauce, oregano, olive oil, and cheese.

Flatten each ball with a rolling pin, then add the tomato sauce mixture.

Fold in both sides and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Brush each piece with a beaten egg.

Sprinkle with regular sesame and black sesame and bake for 20 minutes at 180°C/356°F.

Serve and enjoy!

Notes

To prevent the dough from sticking to the bowl while rising, make sure to grease it well with butter or oil beforehand.
