This recipe for Sandwich Skewers is a quick, easy, kid-favorite appetizer recipe that you can whip up for a large crowd. It’s also perfect for a light lunch or a picnic. They’re easily created by skewering your sandwich ingredients onto a wooden stick. This makes them easier to eat (no sandwiches that fall apart when you eat them!) and also makes them exciting for fussy eaters (we’re looking at you kids!).

You can have all the textures of a real sandwich, with filling and nutritious ingredients. They’re also easy to customize as you want, according to your own or your guest’s preferences. Grab sandwich ingredients such as sandwich bread, mayonnaise, tuna, cherry tomatoes yogurt, cream cheese, ham, and start making them. Get creative as you want!

Tips

Can’t find yogurt sauce in the store? Make your own! Simply mix together 1 cup Greek yogurt, 2 tbsp chopped mint, 2 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp lemon juice, ½ tsp salt, and 1 crushed garlic clove.

If you’re using cheese, use prepacked square slices. It will be easier to fit the cheese on the panini, and it’s won’t fall out like grated cheese.

Instead of topping your sandwiches with olives, you can also use cherry tomatoes, baby pickles, pickled onion, feta cheese, cheddar cheese cubes, or folded salami.

Lettuce
yogurt sauce
Cream Cheese
Ham
skewers
Olives

How To Make Sandwich Skewers

Slice the panini in half and spread with cream cheese.

Top with folded ham.

Top with the other slice of panini.

Mix the tuna with the mayonnaise.

Slice the sandwich in the same way and fill it with the tuna mayo mixture.

For the next sandwich, spread the mixture with yogurt sauce and top with lettuce and tomato.

Place several skewers into the panini, evenly spaced.

Use a serrated knife to cut the filled panini length-wise.

Then cut horizontally to get squares.

Decorate with an olive, then serve and enjoy!

Notes

You can also use a standard loaf of bread, and toast the slices before using.
