The small squares with custard are a very quick dessert to prepare and equally super tasty. You will just need a roll of puff pastry ready at home and the more is done; you just have to make a soft and tasty custard, stuff your crispy squares and sprinkle them with a little icing sugar before bringing them to the table. And in a few minutes you will have delicious sweets that can be served for a important dinner, even with unexpected guests, or for a tasty and genuine snack. Any occasion will be the right one. How to prepare the small squares with custard

Unroll the puff pastry and with a wheel cut out 20 squares (1).

Lightly prick the squares with the prongs of a fork (2).

Sprinkle the puff pastry with a light layer of icing sugar (3), then bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees C (fan mode) for 13-15 minutes, until the surface will be golden brown.

Beat the egg yolks with the sugar, then add the flour and mix well (4).

Heat the milk with the vanilla extract, then pour it over the eggs (5) and mix thoroughly. Transfer the mixture to the saucepan, put back on the heat and cook until thickened. Turn off and let cool.

Meanwhile, whip the cream very cold, then add it to the custard, mixing gently and with movements from the bottom upwards (6).

Place a spoonful of custard on 10 small squares and cover with the remaining ones (7). Keep in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Before serving, arrange the small squares in a serving dish and sprinkle them with a little icing sugar (8).
