This Korean Cafe Looks Like A Page Right Out Of A Comic Book

South Korea is the home to numerous cafés, so it is commonly described as the stuff of dreams for lovers of coffee and other specialty drinks. However, one café that stands out among the many in Korea is Cafe Yeonnam-dong 239-20 in Seoul. The café is literally out of this world, staying true to inspiration from a Korean hit TV show — can you guess which?!

Running a café is not as smooth sailing as it once used to be because there are so many! So, to ensure their business continuity, many café owners install special effects and features to distinguish their service from the competition.

Café Yeonnam-dong 239-20 may appear small from the outside, but that doesn't diminish the awe of every customer that steps inside as they enjoy the faux experience of crossing into another dimension — a comic book illustration.

The small and cozy establishment in the famous Yeonnam-dong district, Seoul, employs an artistic, monochrome design inspired by a famous Korean drama, W, that stars Lee Jong-suk and Han Hyo-Joo.

Just like in the series, the café is a cross between reality and fantasy as it creates a 2D optical illusion that makes customers feel as though they've stepped through a portal and into a parallel universe that's a comic book illustration.

When visitors step through the door, they're greeted with black and white comic strip furniture, walls, and floors. Even the mugs, dishes, and cutlery look like flat-line drawings!

Is it any wonder that people from all over the world are drawn (pun intended!) to the quaint café?

If you are making a trip to South Korea, this café should be on your list of places to visit. But, if you can't, then check out amazing shots on the cafe's Instagram!
