Health professionals encourage the consumption of natural foods to nourish our body. But, persistent and increased use of pesticides on the freshly grown product makes consumption of natural produce dangerous for our health. Here are certain ways in which you can get rid of the harmful pesticides that are present on the delicious and nutritious fruits and vegetables.
Soak fruits and vegetables in a 10% saltwater solution for about 10 minutes to get rid of most of the pesticides.
A solution of 4 parts of water and one part of vinegar is ideal to soak fruits and vegetables for 20 minutes. This solution also helps to get rid of harmful bacteria present on the outer layer of fruits and vegetables. Be careful to not soak thin-skinned produce in the solution for too long.
Mix 100oz. of water with an ounce of baking soda. Soak the produce in this solution for 15 minutes and then rinse it with running water.
Use cold water
Rinsing produce under cold water is also beneficial to reduce the residual pesticides present on fruits and vegetables.
Peel the skin off of fruits and vegetables to prevent the consumption of pesticides.
