The spots become common in people over the age of 40, but they can also be caused by overexposure to UV rays or by genetics. They can be unsightly, but are usually harmless and don’t need treatment.

The remedies for age spots include lasers, chemical peels, dermabrasion, freezing and medication. The natural treatments you can do at home include lemon juice, yogurt, aloe vera juice and papaya.

Here’s some of the best home remedies for combating age spots:

1. Lemon Juice and Yogurt

Lemon juice and yogurt help to lighten age spots because they act as bleaching agents, and the citric acid and antioxidants in lemon also help to fade pigmentation.

2. Castor Oil

If your age spots feel rough in texture, apply castor oil to them twice a day for a few months. This should help them to smooth out and improve their appearance.

3. Onion and Apple Cider Vinegar

Onions are a good treatment for age spots. Blend up an onion and drain the liquid off into a bowl. Mix an equal amount of apple cider vinegar to the liquid and mix. Apply to the age spots using a swab or cotton wool ball.

4. Aloe Vera Juice

Aloe vera is an effective method for treating various skin issues, such as burns and scars. Use gel or juice from aloe vera to rub directly onto the affected areas.
