Peach Iced Tea Origins

Peach Ice Tea is a popular beverage in the South of the US. Some say that the oldest iced tea recipe even dates as far back as 1879. The state of Georgie is known as the peach state, and today peaches from Georgia are known for their superior taste, appearance, and quality.

Peach Iced Tea Ingredients

Peaches – use fresh, ripe peaches (not canned).

Sugar – use granulated sugar, not powdered sugar.

Tea – black tea is the best choice.

Mint – adds freshness to the tea.

How To Make Peach Iced Tea

Making peach iced tea is easier than you may think.

Making The Peach Syrup

Boil the water and sugar in a pan until all the sugar has melted. Add the peach cubes to the syrup and bring to a boil. Once the peaches are soft, pour the mixture through a sieve, and use a spoon to press as much of the pulp through the sieve as possible. Allow to cool and thicken.

Making The Tea

To make the black tea, steep the tea bags in warm water (not boiling) until it’s strong enough (this depends on your preference).

Making The Peach Iced Tea

Place ice cubes in a glass. Pour in a bit of the black tea. Add the syrup and mint, and stir.

Peach Iced Tea Variations

To make it sugar-free, use stevia or another sugar alternative.

You can also sweeten the iced tea with honey or maple syrup.

If you’re making the iced tea for adults, why not make use of some alcoholic add-ins? Try white rum or spiced dark rum.

Tips For Homemade Peach Iced Tea

Use any tea you have on hand. Black tea is more traditional, but you can also use flavored tea or green tea.

You can use spring water or bottled water for iced tea.

If you want a strong black tea flavor, you can steep the tea bags in cold water for at least 6 hours.

Can You Store Peach Iced Tea?

The iced tea can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.
