In fact, a study was published in 2014 by the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine: during this research 367 osteoporosis patients were examined, some were treated with a pain relieving medicine (ibuprofen), while others with less than a teaspoon per day of turmeric. After a month and a half, the researchers discovered that turmeric was as effective as the medicine in treating the disease, but with the advantage of not being harmful to the gastrointestinal system and the rest of the body. This is why doctors advise to include it in the diet without problems.

Turmeric promotes digestion and helps the liver

Consuming a teaspoon of turmeric every day for a month can improve digestive problems and those affecting the entire gastrointestinal system: therefore it is also useful in the case of colitis. Furthermore, turmeric would be able to reduce liver damage caused by alcohol abuse.
