Enjoy this really simple and delicious sweet potato preparation that can be even eaten as a healthy dessert. These candied sweet potatoes can also be enjoyed as a quick side dish with any meat of your choice during the holiday season.
Slice the peeled sweet potatoes to a thickness of ¼ inch. Add the sliced sweet potatoes to a non-stick pan. Add butter, brown sugar, water, salt, and black pepper powder to the sweet potatoes.
Cook the ingredients for about 10 minutes on low flame until the mixture thickens.
Now, lower the heat and cook the potatoes on high heat while stirring the mixture continuously to coat each slice with the caramelized sugar. Serve and enjoy!
Maintain the cooking temperature very carefully as you should not burn the sugar. You can also cover the pan during the first 10 minutes of cooking on low heat so that the sweet potatoes do not stay raw.
